Sorry, but that doesn't make any sense.
What's reinventing to do with this? Did Alastair reinvent Gutenprint
when working on PhotoPrint? No, he just reus
lua currently allow you to create new exporters entirely (instead of file
to disk, you can have export to gimp)
I havn't tested presets

In a nutshell
Jeremy,

One more question. Will this lua action be recorded into my export preset?

OK Jeremy, thanks I did see the posted example but, as a newcomer
to Lua, I found it a more than a tad difficult to follow ... and I had
hoped that an example relating to print output might also be available.

Would you be kind enough to post an example of a typical print output
Lua script. Real life examples are always helpful when getting started.

Serious photographers also use social networking to promote their work
since there are more people online that can see a low quality jpg than
offline to see a high quality print.
I sold my massive photo printer long ago and now outsource that task to

We apparently live in a world where many photographers are strangely
only interested in exporting their detailed and highly crafted images to
severely degraded versions on 'social networking sites'. One would think
that Darktable, above all, would have bucked that trend from the start

Also turboprint would be great as a plug in to allow high quality print
output.

Invoking external programs would be great if that includes a return trip
where the image changes are automatically loaded. Gimp, luminance, hugin
are all programs that would be useful to invoke.

I have few time at the moment but I'm thinking about two new features
that I could try to implement at some point.

I've just published the article about creating an ICC profile on
GNU/Linux, see:

This article and the previous one about printing on GNU/Linux can help
you setup your GNU/Linux environment for printing with high quality.
Well in fact no even high quality as the default drive
