It's a general UI rule to give the user immediate feedback to everything they do. Even if its something like "this doesn't work" or "you have to wait now". I can say for sure that it doesn't "feel good" when you double click on a thumbnail to go into darkroom mode. The problem I can see is that it takes a few seconds till something happens. There is no immediate user feedback that your click actually worked. So people end up clicking multiple times on
