I haven't tried building against X11 but the other screenshots seem to
match my experience of DT on my mbPro.
The checkerboard pattern at 100% does NOT occur for me with DT 1.4.2
I've checked with several images , no problem. (checked against all the
display scaling settings, also no checkerboard
Google+ allows you to upload raw files
(https://plus.google.com/+googleplus/posts/aUuE4JnAU3W), and they have
an intuitive and quick editor.
