What can be done is to left the menu entry untranslated and to translate
it in the long descritption tooltip with the english word in brackets.

I use the git version.
My system : Debian sid with Linux 3.10.7 on an AMD x2 240 and 4GB DDR3.
Everything is 64 bits.
When I import individual images from lighttable, everything is right.
