You can add new lenses in local user space (~/.local/share/lensfun in
linux) and you will not lose your changes when you update your library
because have priority over system wide lensfun database.

I think for a 'standard' user the procedure for add a lens to lensfun
database is not so easy.
Tobias script will work fine and you need only to modify the script
entering two text strings.
