Thank you for info about the cache thumbnail generations. I was
wondering how does it work in DT. How large cache can be set for DT
without influencing its performance? In my DT the default cache size
is 53687091. If I will set it up for large e.fg100x. Will this reduce
the performance of DT?

Forgot to add... I'm gonna play around with some of the super lightweight
distros. Lubuntu and Puppy Linux specifically. DSL doesn't support 64bit yet
and it doesn't look like they plan too.

I've been using darktable mostly for it's live view overlay abilities to help
me shoot composite shots for commercial clients. I recently discovered that my
little netbook I got about 2 years ago could actually support a 64 bit OS. I
was a bit surprised... so I decided to get under the hood and
Hi to all,
may be I done some mistake and now, when I import new images (Pentax
DNG), the base style is no longer applied.
If I rename ~/.config/darktable directory and reimport images in a fresh
library (deleting xmp files) it works, and darktable apply base curve
and sharpness.
I have no idea a
Well, you have a point here... So, I'll go 64bit for sure...

Any modern CPU will be 64bit. Its faster, can address more ram. There's
literally no justification for using a 32bit OS anymore.
Support for 32bit programs is around but if you are using Ubuntu, why
worry? Everything you download will be 64biy anyway.

I often use lighttable to star the best photos which is worth developing and
then switch to darkroom

In order to work on several images stored in different folders, I want to
do several 'import image' before beginning to work on them.
However, Darktable switches automatically to darkroom every time one import
is completed. Is there a way to modify this behavior, so I don't need to go
back manually
