No, I haven't. Just installed that package and: Hooray! It worked!
Everything went back to normal, no need for fiddly root things anymore.
Thanks for the hot tip!

Did you already try to install "nvidia-modprobe"?

Hi,
Thank you for the hint, I tried that, just again to be sure. But
unfortunately didn't help to solve the problem. :-/
Also it's is not about failing openCL completely. It just refuses to run
with the somewhat limited privileges of a normal user - if not started
as root before. After this
I have always been somewhat fearful of the image deletion process in dt, it
that images were not recoverable from the trash.
I now find that if I do accidentally 'fry' an image it can be easily
recovered, prior to exiting from dt, by simply reimporting the folder in which
the image sits.
I learn
Most likely a permission problem. Please have a look here to get a

Thanks! Will look into it, dunno wether they ship to Germany and how long

Could this mean a corrupted/incompatible/local tweaked either config file
or darktable.gtkrc file?

There were no updates, so I have no idea what that was. I would try
removing old version of DT and then installing new one instead of
rewriting it in-place, or maybe a new name (path) is what matters in our
case.

This is highly bizarre. Just for the helluvit, I downloaded and installed a new
1.6 dmg. This time, rather then replacing the 1.4.2 app as I had done
previously, I chose to keep both. Upon activating the darktable2.app, version
1.6 started as expected. Immediately I saw all of the file structure
Works fine over here, that's why I described exact steps for you to
compare. I don't know what to suggest and it doesn't look like anybody
else having the same problem. Try running DT from Terminal and look for
any errors printed there:
/Applications/darktable.app/Contents/MacOS/darktable
Question
No, unfortunately, this is not the only problem. I’ve not gone through
everything in the program because of the fundamental issues such as the
inability to select files.
I know quite well how to navigate through a file directory. It does not work
for me with 1.6. There is “often" NOTHING visi
The only problem left is the unability to use file/directory chooser
dialog, right? I'm not exactly sure what you are doing that it fails.
Over here it looks like this - there is places with homedir and root
directory, you for example click on homedir and its contents appear on
the right. Then you
I had posed a question yesterday, asking if anybody is successfully running the
new version (1.6) on a Mac. As noted in my initial message in this thread, I’m
unable to get it working properly on Mavericks 10.9.5. The problems I faced are
outlined below…
I’ve now reverted to using 1.4.2 again .
Hi Gian
I do this all the time but I found that using the Ubuntu file manager for
automounting remote server files was a complete exercise in frustration and
its habit of sometimes being there and sometimes not there confused the hell
out of darktable. The easy way back to sanity is proba
Hi,
I had similar problems with Debian, first it worked, then I changed something
in the OpenCL setup and it stopped working. I have reported my solution on this
list some time ago, basically I purged all the NVidia packages, rebooted, and
installed them again. Try searching the list archive

hello All,
my local Darktable files (images and xmp) are backed up to a file
server, using rsync, from Ubuntu desktop to Ubuntu server.
Now, I would like to access the server files from another Ubuntu

Hello!
I ran into a little problem, since updating to DT 1.6 (darktable
1.6.0+31~g7532b94 at the moment, to be more precise) openCL doesn't work
anymore.
Well, kind of.
First I tried the usual things to bring it back to life, like installing
the latest Nvidia drivers plus adding or flipping
