I 'DO' a lot of snow texture stuff in the mountains. One of the most simple procedures for me is through the use of the 'levels' module and simply shifting the mid point. I have also made some rather drastic tone curves to tame the values. Snow detail can be exceptionally sensual ... maybe it is
