Oups !! In my last mail I made a mistake. In fact I agree with Hajo
Schatz. Essentially darktable must be a tool to develop RAWs, not a
full-fledged editor like Gimp.

Hello.
On G+ there is an excellent group called Edit My RAW.
Members edit each others photos.
It's educational.
Your problem with masking is perfect for that community.

Dear DT users,
I tried to exclude snowflakes from the sharpening module using a
parametric mask with L excluding high lights, but it's not perfect. Does
anyone have an idea on a better way?
if you wan't to play, here is a raw:

Thanks for your answers Jeremy. It's been enlightening.
Best regards!

Hi,
just a quick remark: contrast in the dt image is a lot higher than in
Rawtherapee and Photoninja. Keeping the contrast low helps with overexposure,
so you may consider reducing the contrast in dt to have a better comparison.

it's indeed quite easy. I had a very generic iop implemented at some point
that would take another image processed in DT and replace the pixels of the
current image with the one of that other image (think of a black background
image, on which various images are overlayed... implem
Thanks, it really is a definite improvement. My current best results:

Hi all.
Do you guys think DT would benefit from a collage/triptych tool? I think it
would be rather easy to implement, and extremely useful. We can create them
in GIMP but with DT we could easily change something in our processing and
have it automatically updated without having to redo it in GIMP
