Hi,
I just did some updates to my xUbuntu system and I received 1.6.8
through the PPA. It's not in the darktable.org/news and I haven't
found the changelog and going through redmine I have only seen changes
to lua.

A related issue is that the light text can sometimes end up on a part of the
image that doesn't provide much contrast. Not a big deal, but maybe some drop
shadow or outline could be added.
