[Darktable-users] [init] error: can't open new database schema

2015-12-03 Thread James
Saturday, I attempted an upgrade from openSUSE 13.2 to openSUSE Tumbleweed, which employs Darktable 1.6.8 instead of the 1.4.2 that 13.2 uses. The upgrade wasn't a good fit so I rolled back to 13.2. The upgrade installed 'over' my existing Darktable .cache and .config directories/files. Back in 1

I've found I've had the most success with snow (or anything much brighter than neutral grey) by overexposing and and bracketing. Makes post-exposure processing much easier. Jim Coleman Upsala '75 http://www.linkedin.com/in/jamescoleman http://www.flickr.com/photos/jecoleman/sets

[Darktable-users] Selective saturation by hue

2014-12-03 Thread James
One thing keeps me running back to The Gimp in time of need is its ability to selectively saturate individual hues. You can select yellow, for instance, and selectively saturate (or desaturate) the hell out of anything yellow without affecting the other hues. Is there such a setting in Darktable?

I own a Nikon D200 and embed my name and telephone number in each RAW file. I changed my telephone number about 6 months ago and forgot the old number was still being attached to each shot. Since Darktable's XPM files are essential text files, is it safe to presume it'd be safe to, say, use sed to

First, thanks SO MUCH for the 1.4 release! The addition of the "Contrast / Brightness / Saturation" module alone makes it worth the upgrade. I'm loving it! Though it's far from being a show stopper, I still haven't figured out how to type numerical values into the various modules. I usually scroll

Interesting discussion about "Perfectly Clear" and automated tools. I use AftershotPro (and BibblePro before it) and think it's a great tool. Automation is nice but I find automation over-processes. I prefer Darktable because it hasn't got automation. I like making my own decisions. My Darktable
