This is something that is in the roadmap, and will eventually be
implemented at some point. I hope it can be done in this series and be
available in the next major release, but I can't promise anything.

Yes your first method is what I wanted. It's not exactly the way I'm used
to, but I guess I'll live with it.

Hi again :)
Here is what I think we can do to comparing any two images using darktable
now.
(1) Switch to lighttable mode
(2) Select first image, and assign a color to the images (assuming you have
no use that color before in this collection) ... Say I assign "red"
(3) Select the second image, an
Hi Jiew
There are two use cases that I try to propose how to do it in darktable now
without having to have two images side by side comparison.
First use case:
We want to compare any series of similar images and select one by one, side
by side, until you get down to one image.
I think you already
Another feature which is somewhat related that I'd like to suggest is a
"compare images" mode where you select 2 or more images and it puts them
side by side, and you can reject images from there. It's useful when you
shoot in continuous burst (or any series of similar images) and you want to

You right, it's not happen all the time. It's only happen when the group is
collapse (the "G" would offer "expand").

It is a Bug #9361

By the way, if you want to reassign the shortcut, look at the
modules/flimstrip ... not the view/darktable.
I do assign my 0 rate to "q". It's better because I can use mouse on right
hand, and rate/reject on the left hand :)
Best,

Hi Patrik,
Yes you can rate/reject while you in the darkroom though the filmstrip at
the bottom of the screen. The icon quite small but you can select reject or
start it.
You can also use shortcut but you need to move the mouse over the filmstrip.
This way, you don't have to move back and forwar
I shoot youth soccer and get 700-1200 images per game. I am trying to
adjust my work-flow to Darktable but find several time consuming issues.
I am unable to rate and tag photos as I edit, must flip back and forth
between lighttable and darkroom views.
I rate and/or reject each photo in turn dur
