The Thunderbird backend is pretty buggy and memory hungry, so it is no
longer built by default. You have to pass in --enable-thunderbird to
the configure line for

Just a guess: Thunderbird support is not compiled in.
When I build beagle from SVN I have to to add "--enable-thunderbird"
when running "configure". Sorry, but don't know
