Are you sure the first 2 scenarios are not due to DHCP problem? If the
EVM is able to send DCHP request then it means Ethernet is OK. Connect
the EVM Ethernet port thru a hub/switch to see if the LED comes on
(detecting the carrier).

DM9000 uses simple "DMA" to offload driver from pointer increment operation
when copying packets from its FIFO to driver memory space.
DM355 has EDMA provisions for vario
If you follow section 3.3.1 in SPRUEK9, you should see Device Driver -> Video
For Linux -> "Davinci Encoder Manager support". If you build DM355 or DM6446
defconfig, it is on by default.
