It appears that the NOR driver is having issues with accessing the CFI
table in the device. Is the NOR device CFI-compliant? If so, there is
likely a hardware issue. You can also try the latest version from the
DVEVM update site, which is 1.14.

You were totally correct, the hardware engineer had some devices muxed
with the NOR and their pull-downs were a little too weak!
