if someone tries to login with wrong password (POP3/IMAP), the error log shows: dbmail-pop3d[13500]: [0xa56f50] Error:[pop3] pop3(+448): user [testuser] coming from [xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx] tried to login with wrong password I think a classification as "Notice" or "Warning" should be appropriated, because this is a good way of flooding the error log.
