I maintain the concert posters site and I love contributions of posters/handbills/flyers that are not on the site.  The best way to do this is to scan it if your scanner is big enough (though it sounds like yours might be about 8.5 x 11? Very easy to scan something that size).  300 dpi is best but really anything is fine (I lower the resolution to 72 or 100 dpi for posting on the web anyway but I like to have the high-res images for my hard drive).  If you can't scan then a digital camera is the next best route.
