Not sure if I've mentioned this yet, but the dats I circulated are direct
transfers from the vault master reels. Can't imagine wht they would be wrong.

  Hi David,

You requested that I re-send the following 3-24-71 Winterland setlist
question to you today.
As you may recall, there are two differing setlists circulating. One has the
show beginning with 'Greatest Story Ever Told' and the other, 'Bertha'.
As this is the show that produced the 'Johnny B. Goode' which appears on the
Skull & Roses album, there must be a 16 track master of the show somewhere.

In any case, you have final word on this mystery.

  All the best,
  Kevin Hurley

I think David Lemieux should be able to provide the definitive word on the
      3-24-71 Winterland setlist.

In doing a little research, I came across a site selling a bootleg
recording
      of the 3-24-71 show:

<http://www.ioffer.com/i/Grateful-Dead-YOGI-BHAJAN-Winterland-SF-Ca-3-24-71-2cdr-126256261>

they also have the same incorrect setlist beginning with 'Greatest Story
      Ever Told'.

As it really went down however - after a 2 hour opening set by the Sufi
Choir, the Dead plugged their instruments in and started to softly jam to
the Sufi music from behind the stage. Eventually, the Dead slowly moved
forward - still jamming - and seamlessly overtook the stage. Once the
Sufis
had dispersed, Garcia made a public service announcement, 'Rick Davis...
if
you're out there, meet Scott Owen out in front...' and soon after, the
band
      launched into 'Bertha'.

There is a review of the 3-24-71 show by the San Francisco Chronicle's

Philip Elwood taken from the rear cover of the already above mentioned
      bootleg recording.

      All the best,

      Kevin Hurley
