I realize that mistakes in Deadbase have occurred in the past. This may or may not be one of them. According to all of the Deadbases I have seen, Jerry and Phil swapped sides onstage at the 4/2/1982 show at Cameron Indoor Stadium, Duke University, Durham, N.C. In the deadlists.com listing for both 4/2/1982 and 4/3/1982, there are no comments regarding Jerry and Phil swapping sides onstage. I was at both the 4/2/1982 show and the 4/3/1982 show at The Scope, Norfolk, V.A. It has always been my belief that Jerry and Phil swapped sides at the 4/3/1982 Norfolk show.
I am certainly willing to admit that this belief of mine is incorrect, and would just be happy to find out for sure, one way or the other. The 4/2 Duke show was the 11th time I had seen the Dead, which I had always fondly remembered as a pretty good show, but I left the show not noticing anything different about the positioning of the band members. At the 4/3 Norfolk show however, I distinctly at the time remember immediately noticing when the boys first took the stage, that Jerry and Phil had swapped sides. Did I just completely miss this change at the Duke show, or is Deadbase wrong? One way or the other I think a comment should be added to the proper show in Deadlists. Also, if memory serves me correctly, before the band starts Scarlet at the Norfolk show, Bobby says into his mic something to the effect that the band has made some position changes. peace, Harold May Taos, New Mexico
