Hi:
I was checking out Deadlists and I see that the Grateful Dead are
listed as having played two nights at the Afterthought in Vancouver (8/5/66
and 8/6/66). The misconception that there was a Saturday show has been
floating around for years. The promoter/manager of the Afterthought was Jerry
Kruz. Jerry is absolutely adamant that the Grateful Dead only played
the Friday night at the club (which was really just a hall that he used to rent
for shows) and that there was no Saturday night show by them. Jerry paid
them out of his own pocket, so I think his word can be trusted. I can put you in
touch with him if you would like to confirm it directly.
