Dave, I have come around to the view that the Dead's set must have been on
Sunday 6/16.
As you note, the NYT of 6/16/68 contains contradictory information about
the date of this. An article says the rock session (including GD) will take
place "tomorrow", i.e., on Monday, 6/17. But a display ad on
I'd love to see Deadlists use more complete bibliographic references when
noting things like show reviews. More transparency is better! In this case,
I have the reference as Diehl, Digby. 1967. Kaleidoscope Opens at Embassy
Room. Los Angeles Times, April 18, 1967, p. D10, in case you are interested

Do you remember anything about the James and the Good Brothers or NRPS
sets, and whether some of the JATGB guys played with the Dead?

And, not that Deadlists people should care, but

didn't happen. It happened on 12/9/77, tickets notwithstanding (

Dave, if you are you planning on doing some updating of early GD years at
Deadlists based on Corry's fantastic research at Lost Live Dead, here are a
few tidbits that you might also want to consider:
10/16/66 (?): Garcia sit-in with Big Brother:

Just posted a tiny bit of info, including that James and the Good Brothers
and then New Riders also played, at

Just a note that the GD's 3/11/68 show in Sacramento was opening for The
Cream, lights by Light Brigade according to a picture in
The Sacrmento Bee (Page L4) on Sunday March 10, 1968.
