Sorry to disappoint but deadlists.com is not hosted on mission-critical
servers that guarantee 99.9999% uptime.

Here are the facts:

If it's up... Then it's down...
95% 438 hours
99.9% 8hrs, 45min, 36 sec
99.9999% 31.68 seconds

I am guaranteed an uptime of 99.5% from my hosting ISP. Therefore I
question your claim that the site at www.deadlists.com is down as much
as you suggest. Of course, I base this on the emails I receive when it
is in fact down - I count none (aside from the curlygirl issue) since
deadlists moved to it's current ISP home this past fall.

What the guarantee means is that I can be reimbursed my monthly hosting
fees for deadlists for the down time, so the reality is that
compensation is negligible.

The curlygirl problem you experienced today is in fact a server
application error that my hosting service has been trying to fix. This
has only happened twice and I can fix it immediately once it's detected.
I would expect that you should not see this problem any more.

As for updating on downtime/maintenance, I have updated the site on all
occassions when I am doing something that might impact service, however,
for those other ~45 hours I cannot predict it.

Lastly, the discussion forum/mailing list is hosted in another location.

Thanks,
Kevin
