I will work on this. Not sure what I am doing, but I will try. Thanks
for replying.

I am trying to install speechd-up in Debian 12 without success. Shown
below is the messages I get during installation. I have found numerous
posts on this subject on line but not yet found a sollution. If, after
rebooting, I enter "speechd-up; echo $?", I get a message speechd-up is
running
In Debian 11 I have a solution, not good, but better than nothing. When
in the Mate Desktop or terminal I use Orca. If I want to use the console
I go to Alt + F2, type in "Sudo Killall Orca", which shuts down Orca.
Within 10 seconds I have espeak speaking in the console. If I want to go

I installed Tasksel and ran it. It listed various choices and I chose
#19, Debian Console Games. I got an "Access denied" error. I tried
with and without sudo as well as using su to try it from root. Same
result. I tried it from the console as well as the Mate terminal. I
recently ran update as
wpa_supplicant is also not installed when you only choose item 12. After
the debian installation, I had to get a copy of the dev file and install
it before I could connect to the internet.

Glenn:
try the following to connect:
sudo ip link set wlt1s0 up
sudo wpa_supplicant -B -iwlt1s0 -Dwext -c/etc/wpa_supplicant/(YourOwnFile.conf)
sudo dhclient wlt1s0

You will get an error message but it should connect. This has to be done
manually each time you boot up so I have it in script
I have some sort of a virus. While installing Debian 11.5, with the text
installer at the point in the installer where it asks me to choose a
Debian mirror, I am given the choice to choose between 1 of 2 Devuan
Linux sites instead. I tried fresh downloads of both the 32 and 64 bit
version, as well
when installing an archived version of debian I need the following
information when the request is made for a mirror. I choose choice
number 1 to choose the mirror manually but the next 2 questions I am not
doing correct.
1. It asks for the mirror host name. What is the mirror host name?
2. It
I also have Debian installed on a Asus 701 (Debian 7, not Debian 11),
console only installation. I don't think you will be able to install
Mate, but if you are able it will be extremely slow if you are using
ORCA. I use it to listen to internet radio and do some searching with
the text only web
Maybe I do not understand your problem but have you tried checking the
option to "Always use color changes" or something like that rather than
"Use System colors"?

Slint is a 64 bit system. I want to use Debian 11 and Voxin on a older
netbook which is 32 bit. I would be satisfied with a console only
installation . Where is there more information on the GTK accessible
greeter and does it work with Voxin in the console?
--
What do we need to do to get Voxin to work in the Debian 11 console? It
works great in the GUI desktop. The last Debian version where Voxin
worked in the console correctly was in Debian 7. I can get it to work
in later versions in a console only installation, but it doesn't work
correctly.
I have installed a console only Debian 11 32 bit to an older netbook
with the netinstall iso. wpa_supplicant was not installed on the console
only installation. I am unable to connect to the internet without
wpa_supplicant. How do I obtain the wpa_supplicant package I need so I
can install it
David, are you saying that the Voxin IBM voice is available in the
Debian console? I have it in the Mate Desktop but have never been able
to get it in the console. I've tried installing speechd-up but get
errors and it will not install. If you would be so kind, Direct me to
the correct
I believe there is a bit of misunderstanding here. A Swedish person
trying to use the English language has used the word "fairy" incorrectly.
His intent was correct, but his word was not.
It would be nice if Linux had a fully functional Bible program which was
accessible with Orca on the
I use Debian and Slint. I'm in California in the USA. Have used Diatheke
in the console in Debian in the past, but unable to find any accessible Bible
program for the GUI Desktop. Also use Windows in my work and personal
use.

I have been trying to learn how to use copy and paste using Orca in the
Debian 10.4 GUI terminal. I do not have braille enabled which has an
option to mark the beginning and end of a selection but is not seemably
changeable as currently configured. How do I mark the beginning and end
of the
You are correct, Lynx does work better when used from the command line, but in
Slint, when using a screen reader, Lynx is not very usable. The Tab and Up/Down
cursor keys are suppose to read only the link but instead the link and a lot of
other information is spoken by the screen reader making
I have asked this question of the Orca mail list but since I am not a
list member they have not responded.
I amĀ using Debian 10 with all updates, 64 bit using the Lynx browser
with the Mate terminal.
I use the Orca read command (Keypad add) to read the full page. Is there
a way to keep
I have a reason to use Debian 7 from the archives, but when trying to
install it the mirrors listed in the US English no longer work. I tried
several mirrors to no avail. Is there a mirror that I can enter
manually when given that choice? And if so, what is the mirror URL.

I've had the same problem and had to connect to the internet directly
from the command line. If you need help doing it email me and I will
send you how to do it. When I was having my problem, someone sent me an
email on a work around but I don't remember what it was.

A foolish question for which I should know the answer.
Frequently, speakup goes silent on the command line. What command do I
use to restart it?
I am using Debian 8 but it also use to happen on Debian 7.
59 Year Old Mom Shocks Doctors:
I'm using Debian Wheezy console only installation. Is it possible to use the

Using iwlist wlan0 scan I can get the network information, but though it seems
