The Alpha architecture passes the test mentioned in "webkit-1.6.1/Source/JavaScriptCore/wtf/dtoa/utils.h", so a verified fix for the FTBFS condition is to simply append "|| CPU(ALPHA)" to the system list in "webkit-1.6.1/debian/patches/01_double-conversion.patch".
