Using the __thread attribute does not seem to work under debian amd64:

foo = 5;
}
$> gcc -fPIC --shared -o foo.so foo.c
$> gcc -o foo foo.so
foo.so: undefined reference to `__

I'v tried a lot of distributions for amd64 (the last
debiansid64,fedora,mandrake,gentoo,except Suse). And all the distro
freeze at the beginning, all but Gentoo only with the "special" kernel
"emachine"
