Greetings,
I'm trying to compile the numa utilities on a dual opteron running
amd64 'unstable'.
I'm having a problem similar to this one (but using libc6 2.3.2.ds1-16):
http://lists.debian.org/debian-amd64/2004/08/msg00055.html
When I try to make the numa lib, it chokes like so:
matilda:~/num
I haven't found the the build reports for the packages
that fail to compile.
Is there some where I can find these?
I am especially interested in why tomcat4 is not yet
on the servers.
Thanks,
kris

That change only added NX support for i386 kernels running on
processors which support that bit. It gets enabled if you configure
the kernel with CONFIG_HIGHMEM
I am going to be upgrading my Athlon XP workstation (running
Debian/unstable) to an Athlon 64 in the next week or so. I am trying to
decide whether to use the AMD64 port or to stick with the IA32 port.
According to the FAQ at

Sorry to be the guy that replys to himself, however i look at some
kernel source and found how to turn on the noexec stuff
looks like noexec=on for 64 bit stuff, noexec32=on for the 32 bit stuff.
i guess the 32 bit stuff has some flexibility as shown by the following
comment
/* noexec32=opt{

Keep in mind that the amd64 port is still not in the official
archives, but the installer is already configured to work as if it
was. Thus, you have to point it to alioth or a mirror when it comes to
downloading packages: Choose http as protocol. Then choose the first

According to the 2.6.8 change log, Ingo added support to boot smp
opterons in NX mode. Which is fantastic as NX adds a modicom of buffer
overflow protection. What I've never understood is how to enable NX
pages. There dosn't seem to be a kernel option for it, is it on by
default? Has anyone been us
Grub, unlike lilo dosn't need to be "updated" everytime you change your
config file. the script, update-grub (bash script check it out with vi
$(which update-grub)), looks for kernels on your root drive and makes
you a new menu.lst. so that script wipes out all of your changes to
/boot/grub/menu.ls
Hi,

I`ve nearly the same problem, i try to install debian 64 bit from my
mini-iso.
There are no problem with the installation until the time i have to
choose the mirror for the 64 bit debian.
First i have to choose the country and then a mirror. After that there
is a warning that the mirror was not fou
I've almost the same problem, when installing it asks me about
sources.lst and neither http nor ftp works, like if it were trying to
connect to i586 sources then it fails and i've an installation without
apt. And there is another problem with grub, i have the disk
partitions as follows:
/dev/hda1

Ok,
thank's for the answer.Me too have to wait to arrive home to test it. The only
problem that I could preview is that I have a SATA HD connected to a Promise
