Xorg 6.8.2, Kernel 2.6.8 and Kernel
Hello list,
I just decided to downgrade from Etch to Sarge because some update today
really broke SciTE and there's really no point in running Etch on a
desktop right now.
Anyway, to do so I enabled pinning in /etc/apt/preferences (and adapted

I just installed my first 64-bit system, using a stock 2.6.8-11-amd64-k8
kernel. All of my hardware is working except for a DLink DWL-122 wireless USB
adapter, which I've had for about a year and have gotten to work on two other
Debian boxes by compiling linux-wlan-ng against the kernel source
Sirs,
Having installed very happily the latest Debian cd set with 2.6 AMD64 kernel,
I have found a need to change back to the 2.4, to enable my scsi dmx3191d
module to operate. There seems to be a problem with the 2.6
kernel /scsi/dmx3191d module.
Can I re-install using the 2.4.27-AMD64
Hi John,

My cpu is currently idling at 1001MHz 1.1V and there's no sign of
error. I'm sorry but i'm unable to reproduce your problem. :(
Let me remind you that i've an Athlon 64 2800+ (130nm) running on an

I hope , it works. I use XOrg, but X-free is the same in its Config.
Hans,
I think you misunderstand: I was providing an answer for antonio giulio;
my own X configuration works fine. Thanks anyway, though.

softly from my current 32 bits installation.
I use a 64 bits enabled kernel with a 32 bits system and a 64 bits chroot.
I get the sound working via ioctl32 but now I have another problem : I
