There's somewhat more software that runs on IA-32 than on x86_64. The
sorts of things that people find missing on x86_64 are:
- Adobe Flash
Well at the moment 64bit flash is broken but it is possible to install
and use. Flash on linux is in general rather bad though.

Amd64 is also about more general purposes registers in addition to bigger
numbers.
Generally speaking anything will benefit from more registers, and if a problem
uses the larger int's (or uses a large number library which uses them) you will
experience enormous performance gains.
