I'm getting ready to install a 32 bit chroot on an Ubuntu AMD64
install. Do I need to stick with a 32 bit Ubuntu distro or can I go
with a 32 bit Debian chroot?
thanks,

Due to instability problems with previous hardware (Abit AV8, AMD-64
3400+ 939 and GEIL RAM) I had RMA'ed the hardware. This was a package
sold by Newegg.com and I could not even get Windows 2000 running on
it, let alone any 32 or 64 bit Linux distro. All this despite tweaking
BIOS settings and boo

I've been trying to install some flavor of Debian AMD-64 to a system I
upgraded last night with little success.
Hardware
Abit AV8 with VIA K8T800 Pro/ VT8237 chipset
SATA/RAID (not in use yet)
VT8237 IDE
Audio (AC-97?)
3400+ processor
512MB/1GM RAM

I'm thinking about buying a 64 it system and have some questions.
I've looked at the HOW-TO and see comments about installing 64 bit
directly or installing 32 bit and then installing 64 bit in a chroot.
I'm confident that I can install a 32 bit system with no more
difficulties than getting drivers
