Obviously, I want it supported on in Etch.
Please, advise ...
Don't buy any of the Creative X-Fi cards - there are no linux drivers

The vmware site has the vmware player and vmware
server for free download (the player just plays
preconfigured virtual machines, whereas with the
server you can create your own). It's very simple to
install and use, and it's pretty amazing
nking that perhaps just an upgrade of the hp printer
driver would do it. That caused a python upgrade, and now it is happily
installing OOo.
Thanks for responding.

I've tried installing via apt-get, but get a problem with required python
version being higher than allowed by my hplj printer driver or by python-qt3
(both require python <2.4 but openoffice.org causes installation of python
2.4.3-11.
Is there a way to resolve this?
Thanks!

Thanks much. I did that once, and it mis-identified the sound card and didn't

a conversion process for converting data files from 32-bit to 64-bit,
then you will have problems if you try to run both versions on your machine.

FYI, the 12 May net-install .iso doesn't seem to contain a kernel-image
to install. The installer dies during the installation of the
base-system because of this.

This is on topic because you stated that the install was nearly
fully-functional.

4_amd64.deb was in the process of being
installed (I'm not sure if it was unpacked yet or not).
And as far as backtracing the dpkg SEGFAULT in gdb, I had tried that,
but as he mentioned, since there are no debugging symbols, there is
nothing but memory addresses.

Hello all,
So I've just gotten bit by a SEGFAULT during a dpkg upgrade
using the 3.4 (or I guess gcc-4.0 archive). This occurred
after --force'ing the /usr/lib64 issue with the libc6 upgrade.
The messages can be found below. Any suggestions about how to
fix this?
Thanks a bun
