Hi. I would like to install a kernel image that is compiled for AMD64 processors
only (not for both AMD64 and EM64T). I need kernel in version 2.6.17 but I
cannot find 2.6.17-x-amd64-k8 in the repos. There is one in version 2.6.16:
linux-image-2.6.16-2-amd64-k8, but in 2.6.17 there is only:

There is no such precompiled image anymore. Precompiled images have
switched to one flavour only: SMP

I guess about the only difference was the cache line size optimization,
which can't

I guess about
No major difference to all purposes? In particular, using the system for
computation (mpqc2.3.1) without X, aimed at the highest possible floating
point.
I am just reinstalling amd64 on dual opteron (hope the old net installer - 19
July - works; the newest does not, as I have reported.
Specifically, I should add, we have detected a bug in mpqc2.31, unable - with
large complex molecules - to build correctly the hessian in internal
coordinates, reading cartesian coordinates. We turned to cartesian
coordinates throughout, which is less efficicient.
Now I wonder whether instead
