However, only after a (cronned) restart of Apache somewhere during the night, it turned out that the changes prompted Apache to show the default (welcome, Apache works) page for *every* vhost on the machine. Ouch. Of course, I should've checked more closely, but still... If Apache had been restarted after the change, I would've know right away. Besides, changes in the .conf files require a restart anyway. -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.7 Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C Versions of packages apache2-common depends on: ii debconf 1.4.36 Debian configuration management sy ii debianutils 2.10.1 Miscellaneous utilities specific t ii libapr0 2.0.51-2 The Apache Portable Runtime ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-16 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libdb4.2 4.2.52-17 Berkeley v4.2 Database Libraries [ ii libexpat1 1.95.6-8 XML parsing C library - runtime li ii libldap2 2.1.30-3 OpenLDAP libraries ii libmagic1 4.10-3 File type determination library us ii libssl0.9.7 0.9.7d-5 SSL shared libraries ii mime-support 3.28-1 MIME files 'mime.types' & 'mailcap ii net-tools 1.60-10 The NET-3 networking toolkit ii openssl 0.9.7d-5 Secure Socket Layer (SSL) binary a ii ssl-cert 1.0-10 Simple debconf wrapper for openssl ii zlib1g 1:1.2.1.2-1 compression library - runtime -- no debconf information --------------------------------------- Received: (at 272982-done) by bugs.debian.org; 24 Oct 2004 11:04:24 +0000 >From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sun Oct 24 04:04:24 2004 Return-path: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Received: from mail.cairns.net.au (cairns.net.au) [210.11.152.12] by spohr.debian.org with esmtp (Exim 3.35 1 (Debian)) id 1CLgAh-0007Bn-00; Sun, 24 Oct 2004 04:04:24 -0700 Received: from nosferatu (unverified [210.11.154.230]) by cairns.net.au (SurgeMail 2.1c7) with ESMTP id 14545309 for <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; Sun, 24 Oct 2004 21:04:21 +1000 AEST From: "Adam Conrad" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: httpd is not restarted after change in vhost 'default' Date: Sun, 24 Oct 2004 21:01:59 +1000 Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable X-Priority: 3 (Normal) X-MSMail-Priority: Normal X-Mailer: Microsoft Outlook, Build 10.0.6626 X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V6.00.2900.2180 Importance: Normal X-Server: High Performance Mail Server - http://surgemail.com Delivered-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 2.60-bugs.debian.org_2004_03_25 (1.212-2003-09-23-exp) on spohr.debian.org X-Spam-Status: No, hits=-2.0 required=4.0 tests=BAYES_01 autolearn=no version=2.60-bugs.debian.org_2004_03_25 X-Spam-Level: apache2 is stopped in the pre-removal stage, and started in the post-installation stage.
