LoadModule perl_module /usr/lib/apache/1.3/mod_perl.so

LoadModule php4_module /usr/lib/apache/1.3/libphp4.so

When I add LoadModule includes_module /usr/lib/apache/1.3/mod_include.so manually, to modules.conf. and do

%apachectl restart

The script will say it restarted, but it hasnt and just quits.

When I take out the line, it will still wont start.

If I take out the php4 line it will then start.

If I put the php4 line back and restart it will start up fine.

Apache's suexec is compiled with min uid 1000 as of 1.3.27.0-2.

This is of course as it should be, however, there are existing
environments where it is difficult to change all user uids above 1000.
(Most of these have been active for more than 10 years when
system uids was below 100. :-)
Also some of my internal packages (not in Debian) depends on being
able to suexec and still have a system account.

Because of this, would you consider adding an extra suexec, compiled
with the old uidmin?
The select mechanism is already in place, it's just an extra question
that's needed.

suexec is broken.

/usr/lib/apache/suexec -V reports:
 -D DOC_ROOT=/usr/local/apache/htdocs
 -D GID_MIN=100
 -D HTTPD_USER=www
 -D LOG_EXEC=/var/log/apache/cgi.log
 -D SAFE_PATH=/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin
 -D UID_MIN=1000
 -D USERDIR_SUFFIX=public_html

The HTTPD_USER option should be www-data.

This prevents the su mechanism from properly working, making all
relevant cgi scripts fail with an internal server error.

/var/log/apache/cgi.log shows for each:
crit: calling user mismatch (www-data instead of www)

 OK, I have spent some time investigating this problem, and
 it seems that the content-type is correctly set, but
 not correctly delivered by Apache2:

 I've put the following configuration directives into
 /etc/apache2/mods-available/xslt.conf (and linked the .conf and .load):

 AddType application/xml .xml
 AddOutputFilterByType   mod-xsltapplication/xml

 Then, I placed a file svnindex.xml into /var/www/apache2-default,
 which references a .xsl.
 When doing w3m -dump_head localhost/svnindex.xml
 I get:
 HTTP/1.1 200 OK
 Date: Tue, 16 Dec 2003 11:57:12 GMT
 Server: Apache/2.0.48 (Debian GNU/Linux) DAV/2 SVN/0.33.0 mod-xslt/1.0.0rc1

 ETag: 78958-347-318f7240
 Accept-Ranges: bytes
 Content-Length: 839
 Connection: close
 Content-Type: application/xml

 application/xml is the same type originally assigned by Apache
 before mod-xslt is run.

 To verify that mod-xslt does its job right, I inserted
 WriteLog calls into src/mod-xslt.c, especailly in
 function xslt_set_headers:

 if (stylesheet-method){
 writeLog(APLOG_DEBUG,method=%s, stylesheet-method);
 if (strcmp((char*)stylesheet-method,xml) == 0){
 ...

 And in function xsltparse:

 ...

 xslt_set_headers(f-r-headers_out,f-r-pool,stylesheet);

 f-r-content_encoding=apr_table_get(f-r-headers_out, Content-Encoding);

 f-r-content_type=apr_table_get(f-r-headers_out, Content-Type);
 writeLog(APLOG_DEBUG,content-type = %s,
 charset =
 %s,apr_table_get(f-r-headers_out,Content-Type),apr_table_get(f-r-headers_out,Content-Encoding));
 ...

I did pretty much the exact thing with the debs I put up on gluck, with
the same result.

 However, this info seems to get lost on the way through apache, since
 the final document is reported to have Content-Type: application/xml,
 which is basically the Content-Type originally detected for svnindex.xml

 Hope this helps anyone more familiar with the new filters
 of Apache2. I am sort of stuck here.

You too, hey?

Re: mod_perl non-configurability ???

2003-12-16 Thread Michael D Schleif
Please, will somebody shed light on this problem?

I have two (2) debian systems that exhibit this behaviour.

I have posted to debian-user, debian-apache and modperl@perl.apache.org
-- no response.

I have opened Bug#224049 -- no response.

If nobody can help resolving this non-functionality; please, help me to
compile the debian source and install that on my systems.

What do you think?

 I am having quite a bad time installing mod_perl on my system. Please,
 can you help me?

/usr/share/doc/libapache-mod-perl/examples/README

 Apache works just fine *without* that LoadModule line, and no other
 changes to httpd.conf repeatedly result in this error.

 I cannot find a README.Debian, nor have I found any manual instructions
 for configuring httpd.conf. I _did_ manually add the LoadModule line,
 since I have had to do that before on other systems. mod_php install
 offers to do that automatically; but, mod_perl installation offered no
 such assistance.

 I have posted this to debian-user (no response), and
 modperl@perl.apache.org, from which I got this response:

We think it'd be very helpful to get the backtrace of the segfault.
Please see: http://perl.apache.org/bugs/

 Of course, in order to get a backtrace, I need to re-build mod_perl. I
 am not comfortable with that, which is why I use your DEB.

 Tonight, I did this:

sudo apt-get -u --purge remove apache apache-common libapache-mod-perl

 Then, I did this:

sudo apt-get -u install apache apache-common info2www \
   libapache-mod-jk libapache-mod-perl libapache-mod-webapp

 Even now, as long as this line is in /etc/apache/httpd.conf:

LoadModule perl_module /usr/lib/apache/1.3/mod_perl.so

# sudo /usr/sbin/apachectl restart
/usr/sbin/apachectl: line 171: 22638 Segmentation fault  $HTTPD -t
/dev/null 21
/usr/sbin/apachectl restart: configuration broken, ignoring restart
/usr/sbin/apachectl restart: (run 'apachectl configtest' for details)

# sudo /usr/sbin/apachectl configtest
/usr/sbin/apachectl: line 171: 22641 Segmentation fault  $HTTPD -t

 What do you think?
