Package: apache2-mpm-prefork
Version: 2.0.52-1
Severity: minor

Hello,

if I upgrade the apache2-mpm-prefork package, the old apache is
stopped via prerm and the postinst tries to force-reload the server.

This results in a message `httpd (no pid file) not running' (and a
running web server).

I suggest to start apache in postinst unconditionally. Then, I think,
you don't need preinst and the file /var/cache/apache2/reload any more.

I'm not sure, if the alternative (not to stop apache on upgrade in
postrm and force-reload in postinst) is a save way to replace it - you
know better and may choose this one.

Regards
Uwe

As far as I can tell, nothing actually went wrong, and the script
shouldn't have failed with an error.

As this is being installed on a chroot, I don't want apache2 to
automatically start on installation (it would conflict with apache
already running). Hence I haven't bothered to try and work out why it
thinks it is in a shutdown (my guess it is because /etc/runlevel.conf is
missing).

(At least) in a chroot, as can be seen in my buildd logs[1],
apache2's postinst will fail if the serverf can't start due
to an inability to bind to port 80. As I had apache1.3 running
in the base system on this buildd, I had to stop the base's web
server and kick off the build again. Annoying. :)

When I configuring apache2 in proxy with the mod_clamav
(http://software.othello.ch/mod_clamav/), it's impossible to make windows
update.

It's seem the problem is in the server/protocol.c (line 1561).
If I change the test :

 if (ctx-data_sent == 0  eos) {

by

 if (ctx-data_sent == 0  eos  !r-header_only) {

(according to then end page of http://software.othello.ch/mod_clamav/)
all work find.

Problem with mod_ssl.so

2004-11-07 Thread Kasper Schoonman
Dear Package Maintainer,

Since Apache 1.3.33 mod_ssl.so doesn't work anymore, I had to comment this line in the config file (modules.conf) to get Apache working again.

#LoadModule ssl_module /usr/lib/apache/1.3/mod_ssl.so

Is this because of the fact that mod_ssl hasn't been updated yet, or something like that?

With Kind Regards,
Kasper Schoonman
