Bug#281869: Bug in Apache 1.3.33-1 (sid)
Package: apache Version: 1.3.33-1 This source-package prints the following message at the end of the compilation. I don't like this kind of humor and think this is really bad taste: -=-=-=-=-=- if [ -e debian/apache.buildd.i386 ]; then \ figlet `cat debian/apache.buildd.i386`; \ else \ echo -e \n\n*** HEY THIS IS YOUR LUCKY DAY! ***\n\n; \ fi ___ / ___|/ _ \ | | _| | | | | |_| | |_| | \|\___/ __ __ ___ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ ___ _ | \/ |/ _ \_ _| | | | | _ \| ___| | | |/ ___| |/ / | _ \| | | |\/| | | | || | | |_| | _| | |_) | |_ | | | | | | ' /| _| | |_) | | | | | | |_| || | | _ | |___| _ | _| | |_| | |___| . \| |___| _ |_| |_| |_|\___/ |_| |_| |_|_|_| \_\_|\___/ \|_|\_\_|_| \_(_) -=-=-=-=-=- I tried to backport the sid package to the sarge distribution in order to update to a safe version of Apache. It's the first time a program calls me Motherfucker while I improve a system's security. How to fix: just remove the shell lines I quoted above in the debian/rules file. -- Olivier Beyssac - [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Bug#281913: ab incorrectly installed in /usr/sbin
Package: apache-utils Version: 1.3.31-7 Severity: normal apache-utils places the ab binary in /usr/sbin (and the ab manpage in /usr/share/man/man8/). According to FHS 2.1: This directory contains any non-essential binaries used exclusively by the system administrator. ab is usable and useful when run as an unprivileged user. In fact, it should probably not be run as root, as this might expose the superuser account to compromise by a malicious web server in the case of exploitable bugs. -- Ian Gulliver Penguin Hosting Failure is not an option; it comes bundled with your Microsoft products. signature.asc Description: Digital signature
