Bug#306101: Same issue, different place

2006-01-10 Thread Ian Gulliver
I'm also seeing assertion failures with 1.3.33-6sarge1, but with
different gcache line number information.  Same symptoms, however;
gcache dies and apache-ssl no longer properly negotiates SSL
connections.

gcache: gcache.c:152: HandleClient: Assertion `n == 1' failed.
[Sat Jan 7 05:10:18 2006] [notice] child pid 23467 exit signal Aborted (6)
[Sat Jan 7 05:10:18 2006] [warn] long lost child came home! (pid 23467)
Failed to connect to socket: /var/run/gcache_port
connect: Connection refused
apache-ssl: gcacheclient.c:118: OpenServer: Assertion `!couldn't connect to
socket' failed.

Bug#281913: ab incorrectly installed in /usr/sbin

2004-11-18 Thread Ian Gulliver
Package: apache-utils
Version: 1.3.31-7
Severity: normal

apache-utils places the ab binary in /usr/sbin (and the ab manpage
in /usr/share/man/man8/). According to FHS 2.1:

This directory contains any non-essential binaries used exclusively
 by the system administrator.

ab is usable and useful when run as an unprivileged user. In fact, it
should probably not be run as root, as this might expose the superuser
account to compromise by a malicious web server in the case of
exploitable bugs.

Bug#264645: Directory listing stops at large file

2004-08-09 Thread Ian Gulliver
Package: apache2
Severity: normal
Version: 2.0.50-7

ii apache22.0.50-7 Next generation, scalable, extendable web se
ii apache2-common 2.0.50-7 Next generation, scalable, extendable web se
ii apache2-mpm-wo 2.0.50-7 High speed threaded model for Apache2

Apache seems to read directory entries in unsorted order, but stops when
encounters a large file, then sorts the subset of the list that it did
read. Even if it is broken and needs to skip large files, certainly it
shouldn't break completely when encountering them?

The following example exhibits the problem as well, though it is not on
the (internal) server that is reported above:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/public_html/apachebug$ ls -l --sort=none
total 2666492

-rw-r--r-- 1 ian ian 0 Aug 9 14:59 3
