I followed the instructions at [1] using the debian stretch files at
[2], specifically [3] and [4].
The SD Card image creation becomes:
zcat firmware.BananaPi.img.gz partition.img.gz > /dev/mmcblk0
I change the uboot environment as required, and the hdmi output gets
used correctly.
