Any more suggestions on this?

Also, since you said you wanted ohci and not ehci, why don't you boot
again with your firmware (that apparently loads ohci) after moving
away the ehci module on disk.
I'll try that right away.
First the nslu got stuck at:
Setting the system clock.
After removing the battery for a while I tried
Actually, I just checked and ohci_hcd is not included in the ramdisk
(at least not here); only ehci_hcd is.
Strange, the serial console output from my original post (Lenny stable):
Begin: Loading essential drivers ... [42949378.72] SCSI subsystem

Can you post the boot log of 2.6.28?
This is the log for testing (2.6.28) install.

Well, can you actually boot Debian at the moment? Because if not, I
guess I've to prepare one for you.
No I can't, it would be great if you could prepare one!

I don't really have an idea, but I have a question: the boot log shows
that you're trying to start Debian from the USB stick. This means
that you successfully installed Debian on the USB stick. Did you use
the installer on the NSLU2, or did you unpack the tar ball on another
machine?
I have
Could you try a ramdisk that doesn't include the ehci_hcd module?
I tried to figure out how to create a ramdisk but I not sure how its done?

Hi,
I have tried to install Debian Lenny on my second NSLU2 using a USB stick. I
followed the instructions here: http://www.cyrius.com/debian/nslu2/
During boot the following error is seen on the serial console:
[42949405.56] sd 0:0:0:0: [sda] Result: hostbyte=0x01 driverbyte=0x00
