I have been using Linux (Mandrake, Redhat, Suse, etc.) for 4 or so years
and want to try Debian, but can't get it installed. I have spent many
hours on this and read the help on many sites, including debian.org.
My system: An Asus A7V with Duron 1300 MHz and an onboard promise HD

I bootstrapped a Debian system from a RH one. The initial bootstrap
was with woody, then I changed apt to use testing and got a 2.4.18
kernel (k7 variety).
The first time I booted into the new system I didn't seem to have any
ethernet card (I was working before in a RH chroot environment).

Version: sarge-i386-1 (jigdo from ~18June2003)
Procedure:
1. boot debian from CD, into installation procedure
2. proceed thru steps 1, 2, 3
3. at step 4 of installation, using CD as source, i make selections
(#10) and q to end, then receive the following text:
