The following patch to choose-mirror.c removes the need for the hard
coded PREFERRED_DISTRIBUTION variable by allowing it to be overridden
with a pre-seeded value (good for non-Debian Debian's (Ubuntu)).

kernel-source-2.4.27 package, and build a package with it. I need to patch
kernel-package for it to work, but i tried building the kernel already like
that.

Well read, Denis. According to what I read in localization-config
(l-c) files, it is not supposed to set XkbVariant for Finnish and
certainly not to "fi".
So, this may finally be a nasty bug in l-c (setting XkbVariant
additionnaly to
