This bug still exists in the latest fix also.
The patch in 0.47 version does add an entry in /etc/apt/sources.list.,
but the grub installation and selecting a Standard system install under
tasksel fails with an error,

So, I would say that LILO is no longer the default installer for some
installations of lenny.

What if /boot is on LVM (can happen with manual partitioning)? Grub2
can (at least in principle) handle this, but I've never seen that in
action.

I did the installation in expert mode. Unfortunately I had two problems
concerning the setup of LUKS encrypted partitions and filesystems. The first
and critical one was that the installer couldn't setup more than one encrypted

Okay, I've got some more info now. It looks like the initial call to
list-devices cd occurs before the usb-storage device scan is complete
or at least before the sysfs files have settled. This device scan can
take much longer if the CD/DVD drive is completely spun down.

with version 0.47 the cdrom is still not mounted for the tasksel stage, the
base install works fine, If you mount the cdrom with
# mount /dev/cdrom /target/media/cdrom
and give the grub bootloader install a second chance it works.
For Version 0.46 you had to uncomment the cdrom entry in
