The image size for initrd is ~5M which is too large to find space on the
flash for.
Are there earlier kernel versions around that are not quite so big? I'm
looking at the <3.5M region.

I have installed now Debian 7.5 Xfce 64bit in german language.
Installation was perfect.
The pc shutdown and restarted.
Then I said to the pc "please shut down" if I pushed the button.
I became a black screen and the pc didn't shutdown.
The PC is new and the hard disk is also new.
