Package: console-setup Version: 1.45 Severity: critical Justification: breaks the whole system
This may not be critical and it may not be the cause of the problem, but since I upgraded xorg, and console-setup was installed I'm having persisteng boot problems. Sometimes the boot sequence stops and a power cycle is required, sometimes it stops and a Ctrl-C will break it. Splashy is also bust. This may be a partial duplicate of bugs #510211. Basically on boot Splahy starts, the progress bar fails to move and then I'm dumped back on a traditional console. Most of the time it continues to boot until the setting up console fonts line. If I'm lucky I can Ctrl-C out of it and it's okay, otherwise it's reset, reboot, fsck and reboot again. It's very annoying. The system will clean boot about one time in 5. I can't remove console-setup without remove xorg, which I'd rather not remove. -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.30-1-amd64 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=en_GB, LC_CTYPE=en_GB (charmap=ISO-8859-1) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages console-setup depends on: ii console-terminus 4.28-1 Fixed-width fonts for fast reading ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.5.27 Debian configuration management sy ii xkb-data 1.6-1 X Keyboard Extension (XKB) configu Versions of packages console-setup recommends: ii console-tools 1:0.2.3dbs-66 Linux console and font utilities Versions of packages console-setup suggests: ii locales 2.9-25 GNU C Library: National Language ( ii lsb-base 3.2-23 Linux Standard Base 3.2 init scrip -- debconf information: * console-setup/variant: United Kingdom console-setup/unsupported_options: true * console-setup/ctrl_alt_bksp: false console-setup/modelcode: pc105 console-setup/use_system_font: console-setup/fontsize: 16 console-setup/unsupported_layout: true console-setup/layoutcode: gb console-setup/codesetcode: Lat15 * console-setup/altgr: The default for the keyboard layout console-setup/codeset: # Latin1 and Latin5 - western Europe and Turkic languages console-setup/toggle: No toggling * console-setup/fontface: Terminus console-setup/fontsize-text: 16 * console-setup/compose: No compose key debian-installer/console-setup-udeb/title: console-setup/other: console-setup/switch: No temporary switch console-setup/unsupported_config_layout: true console-setup/charmap: ISO-8859-1 console-setup/optionscode: console-setup/unsupported_config_options: true console-setup/layout: console-setup/variantcode: * console-setup/model: Generic 105-key (Intl) PC * console-setup/fontsize-fb: 16 -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-boot-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
