scheme and the standard partition layout (only one swap partition and a
big root partition) and selected only the base system and desktop tasks.

The CD (actually, a daily Debian netinst image) I was using wasn't a
virtio device, as I'm using it only for installation, having no need to
keep it under the installed system.
