Hello Alastair:
Can you tell me when this version of fribidi and its patch to slang are
gonna be in the Debian installer as I like to have them tested ASAP. I
want to get some screen shots to get the translators motivated to get
Arabic Support there ASAP :)
Your kind response is greatly

After much discussion I believe there are two ways we can approach the
solution:
1. Hack Newt for now to pipe all output through bidi and some custom
written shaping code (should be simple to do). this requires intimiate
knowlege of Newt and fribidi. Currently the .lb LUG is looking into it.
consistency in our translation. We
will attend to that next week as I am waiting for the msgids to stabilize.
Fair enough. if Alastair is really busy then i will try and recruite
somebody to work on newt.
Thanks alot.

Hello All:
After many tries to get fribidi integrated into d-i, we gave up and
decided to do it our selves.
Here is what I need to know first before we hack newt or cdebconf/newt.c :
1. is Newt UTF-friendly ? and if it is who is the code maintainer ? and
is there a mailing list for it. I

I am happy to note that Arabic translation of d-i is 100 % complete.
I will be checking in the code sometime today.
Now that the translation is complete, it would be nice to be able to
use it ;).
Debian installer will require bidi and shaping patches. Bidi is a lib
that can be plugged in.
Hello all:
Just wanted to let you know that Arabic translation of the installer
have gone up to 39% in 3 days. We are moving quite nicely and should
have the whole thing finished in a week or so.
What is the status of BIDI implementation. I heard nothing from nobody.
Please let us know as it

Hello Christian:
I agree whole heartedly with you on this. The problem with Arabic is
that 23 or more countries speak the same language yet they do need their
own local.
Know what do you suggest we change the Syrai to? I think Arabic would
suffice instead of mentioning any country.
