Hi!
It would be cool to have Debian boot CDs for the SGI O2. Currently
there are only netboot images available. I'm willing to invest some
misburned CD-Rs and some time for testing in this...
I already tried simply

Currently the boot option debian-installer/framebuffer does not work
as documented in the Instalation Manual, section 5.2.1. Debian
Installer Parameters (it does not work at all).
This issue was raised by Bugs #272552 and #272562. Geert

Here it is. It is a simple s,debconf/frontend,DEBIAN_FRONTEND, on

If nobody opposes I will start to work on this.
My plan is to not automagically set any variables if the corresponding
debconf option is set in the database.

No, it's more like a framebuffer problem on a Sun Ultra 1.
Here is a patch which should make debian-installer/framebuffer work.
Of course it doesn't solve the real issue, but that should probably be
reassign to either bterm or the kernel.
And here comes the patch.

Ok, here is a patch doing just that.
I repeated the installation attempt with the new daily build, with the
same result as before.

Of course, I didn't read the manual carefully and missed the boot
option debian-installer/framebuffer. So I tried setting it to false,
but it didn't help.
The last thing I see before the cursor disappears on VC1 is:

I'm pretty sure this machine is sparc64, not sparc32. At least it
looks exactly like mine, ant that is definitely sparc64.
