to add.
Herbert says this can be done using userspace tools, not a kernel-space
driver. I say that if we can figure out how to do that, we should.

My current Woody system using Broadcom's GPL bcm4400 module works fine
and gets an IP immediately.
Two ways to fix this:
- Switch to Broadcom's bcm4400 driver (it's GPL)
- Upgrade to a later kernel which might(?) include a less buggy b44 driver

Is Bochs a useful environment to test debian-installer with? Would the results
of any testing with it be useful in the real world? Or they most likely be
caused by the fact that it's being run on an emulator instead of a real machine?
