Chose United Keyboard layout in the installer. This choice remains in effect
during the installation and on the console after installation, but when I
log into X11 I am stuck with a US keyboard layout.
This would make it rather difficult for
thought it was a great idea, but ISTR reading somewhere that the idea
was patented. Unfortunately I have not found a reference after some quick
Googling, so perhaps it is not the case. :)

The default user should be added to the 'scanner' group so that they can
use image scanners. We already add them to plugdev, netdev, video, etc.,
so I think this is consistent with what is already done.

FYI, pm-utils 1.1.0 has been out for a while.
All the scripts that make up pm-utils have been rewritten to conform to
POSIX and the Single Unix Specification. Any remaining bashisms or
GNUisms are bugs. If you encounter a script that is not POSIX and SuS
compliant, please file a bug.

Could the information at
http://wiki.debian.org/DebianInstaller/SataAtapiHowto be added to the
manual? I'm suggesting as a new section under 5.3. Something like:

I just tried a root-on-RAID1 setup and the only issue was that GRUB was
only installed to the MBR of the first hard disk, so when I simulated
the failure of the first disk, the system would not boot.

The combination of both of those together left me with no way to get
back into the machine to fix anything, except by netbooting into the
