I tried unloading 8139cp and still couldn't get an ip address. I also tried
unloading everything directly related to the network card and then reloading
everything except 8139cp, but still no dice.

I'm attempting a Debian install on a Compaq desktop that I purchased late last
year. I've managed to coax it through almost all the process (including a
3-day-long partitioning/formatting process for my 250GB HDD), but I'm stuck at
