It was a small wart for the installer to prompt me for an IP address in this disconnected install (it appeared to correctly skip DHCP, presumably using the link state). It is vagely surprising that despite selecting a 2.6 based install I've ended up with a 2.4 kernel installed. This is hardly the end of the world, though. Since this is a CD-only install without network access I have not configured X.
